Ensemble Studios was founded in 1995 in Dallas, Texas to develop PC games. The studio launched with the release of popular RTS game Age of Empires, and produced sequels, expansions and spin-offs to the Age of Empires series for over a decade, until they were tapped by Microsoft to develop the upcoming Halo RTS Halo Wars. Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties was developed by Ensemble Studio and published by Microsoft Games Studios in October 2007. The game was released for Mac users in the next year. Besides following the gamerule from the original game, it adds more content based on the title, histories from Asian countries once upon a time.
